Scuba Moraira

The Costa Blanca which is located on the Mediterranean Sea has some interesting dive sites one of which is Moraira on the Northern Costa Blanca. Moraira has one of the best and unspoilt areas for diving on the Costa Blanca. Each centre will have a full range of equipment for rental.

There are a few dive centres in the sea side resort of Moraira one of which is Mermaid Diving Moraira which is located on the Carretera de Moraira a Calpe. Mermaid diving is a PADI Gold Palm 5 Star International Diving Centre and BSAC resort.

Scuba Moraira is another dive centre in Moraira and is located on the Carretera Moraira Calpe. Scuba Moraira is also a PADI 5 Star Dive Centre. Their dive boat is moored in the nearby Moraira Marina.

Moraira has as many as twenty five different dive sites along its Mediterranean stretch of coastline which include dives to Calpe, Benitachell and Javea, and one can take part on night dives, cavern dives, as well as dives of varying depth and ability. Dives can be booked from as little as €60 and PADI dive courses start at €350.

Diving depths range from six metres to forty metres. During the summer months there are as many as five dives on offer on most days of the week. On the shallow dives around Moraira one can expect to see Wrasse, Bream, Damsel Fish, Barracuda and Grouper. Underwater mountains and night dives are designed for the more experienced diver and can prove challenging. The underwater tunnels are the perfect place to find Conger and Moray Eels as well as octopus and on night dives one can expect to see Scorpion Fish, Hermit Crabs, Lobsters and Octopus. On the boat ride out one might catch a glimpse of sunfish and schools of dolphins.

The main diving sites in Moraira include Crazy Cove, The Labyrinth, Armchair Rock, the Three Amigos, Mushroom Rock, Cap d’Or and El Portet. The main diving sites in Calpe include Pebble Beach, Los Arcos, Flat Rock, Road End, Sargo Rock, Road End and The Bowl. Benitachell dive sites include Dani’s Crack, Big Mushroom and the Moraig Cave. Javea dive sites include Porticholl Island, The Cathedral, Sunken Mountain, Organ Cave, Organ Corner and Descubridor Island North and Descubirdor Island South.

The nearest wreck to explore while diving is located in Denia which is around ten minutes away by car.
