Mojacar Weather
66Mojacar Spain Weather
Mojacar has more than three hundred and thirty days of annual sunshine with hot summer days, mild winters and very little rainfall. Mojacar is located on the Costa Almeria in the comunidad of Andalucia and is one of the most popular sea side resorts on the Costa Almeria in Southern Spain. The nearest airport to Mojacar is Almeria Airport although some people make use of the cheap Ryan Air flights to Murcia Airport on the Costa Calida. To the south of Mojacar is the sea side resort of Carboneras while to the north lies the resort of Garrucha.
The Costa Almeria and its sea side resorts are some of the hottest and driest areas in Spain as can be seen by the landscape and vegetation and humidity levels are some of the lowest in Spain. Mojacar has very hot dry weather in the summer and temperatures easily climb to thirty degrees Centigrade at midday and don’t drop much even at night. Because of the low humidity levels accompanied by sea breezes Mojacar is never really uncomfortably hot and is ideal weather for families with children enjoying their summer holidays and al fresco dining.
The autumn months in Mojacar are very warm with the occasional shower. Temperatures are still in the mid twenties and as the families with children have returned to their home countries Mojacar is the place to be with good weather, off peak rates when it comes to accommodation and empty beaches. Incredibly even in November the Mediterranean Sea is still warm enough for swimming.
The winter months from December until February are very mild and dry and mostly filled with sunshine. The odd shower cools day time temperatures which still range between fifteen and twenty degrees Centigrade. The temperatures seldom drop below six degrees centigrade at night, although freezing temperatures have been recorded in the past as has the odd snowfall. Mojacar is a great place to spend the winter away from the often harsh Northern European winters.
The spring weather from March until May sees temperatures climbing as high as twenty five degrees centigrade by the time the month of May begins. Night time temperatures remain low which is a relief for the locals as the days do begin to heat up. The Mediterranean Sea is warm enough for swimming for the hardy Northern Europeans and is therefore a great time to visit Mojacar.
Mojacar is located on a hillside away from the beachfront and is protected by more surrounding hills which gives Mojacar a microclimate which in return is responsible for the mild climate and weather which Mojacar enjoys. Visitors to Mojacar need to pack a warm wardrobe from October until May as well as a high protection sun screen and sun glasses.
