Gay Alicante

Alicante is the largest city on the Costa Blanca. The airport at El Altet just south of the city and provides the gateway for many tourists coming on holiday to the Costa Blanca. Just like Benidorm, Alicante has its fair share night life as well as gay bars,pubs, gay clubs and discos. Alicante is the place to come and enjoy the gay nightlife as the locales are all within walking distance of each other and is great for bar hopping and clubbing. Nightlife in Alicante really comes into its own after midnight and ends at day break.

the El Barrio is the most popular area of Alicante when it comes to night life. Here there are an abundance of discos, pubs, bars and cafes each with their own form of entertainment.

The most popular gay Alicante bars are El Forat which is in the El Barrio, Divina which is also in the Barrio, the Canibal Pub is the most popular gay bar for the young and is located on the Plaza Nueva.

The bars in the Barrio close between three and four in the morning, and the nights entertainment then moves to the Alicante discos close to the Explanada España promenade which is open until sun rise. Here visitors can dance, party and drink until dawn.

Gay Alicante discos include the Byblos Discoteca which is close to the Gabriel Miro Square. More popular gay nightclubs include Enigma is located on Arquitecto Morell, Missing which is located on Calle Gravina, the Venial Club is located Conde de Soto Ameno, and the Z Club which is located on the Calle San Fernando

Gay Alicante bars include Paparazzi which is located on Calle Gravina, Abraxaz which is located on Baron de Finestrat, La Cupula Azul which is located on the Avenida Oscar Espla Avenue, Dark which is located on Dr Ramon y Cajal Avenue, Grizzly which is located on San Juan Bosco, Mil –Lenni which is located on Virgen de Belen, and Racon de Molt Fort which is situated on Santos Medicos and which is in the Barrio. Arte y Jaleo which is popular with lesbians is located on Poeta Quintana.

Gay Alicante cafes include the Picadura Café which is located on Altamira and the Manhattan Café which is located on Bilbao.

Gay friendly restaurants in Alicante include Bigoli which is located on Belando, La Catedrala which is located on San Nicolas, La Sastreria which is located on the Plaza Gabriel Miro, La Rosa which is located on the Plaza Santa Faz, Ferran which is located on San Fernando, Mediterrani which is located on Miguel Solar, and Cafeteria Mia which is located on Alcalde Suarez Llanos.

Gay Alicante shops include the Canibal Shop on the Calle de Colon, Intimen on César Elguezabal, Pikante which is located on Rafael Altamira and Spartacus which is located on Sevilla.

Gay Alicante saunas can be found at Basaki on Murcia, Ipanema Thermas on Espronceda, Steam which is located on Cardinal Playa, and the Vi. Sa. Do which is located on Pintor Murillo.

Beaches popular with the gay community include the Playa Urbanova and the Playa Cabo de las Huertas. These have also been classified as the nudist beaches of Alicante as well. At the Playa Urbanova there is also a gay bar by the name of Sanz Gay and on the subject of nudist bars the FOC Gay Nudist Bar is located on the Paseito de Ramiro.

Bearing in mind that Spain is a strictly Catholic country the Spanish are considered to be very tolerant and given the size of Alicante as a city the gay scene has more than just a lot going for it.
